Save Loads of Time with Flow Batch Run

Tuesday September 20, 2011 at 11:40am

Many simulations require repeated reruns when you want to change a value. I was doing a Flow simulation of a racing car for an Educational customer who wanted to see the drag forces at varying speeds. Drag force does not vary linearly with velocity so I needed to do several runs. This is easy if you use the Batch Run tool. Just clone the first project (rmb on project name) and then for each clone change the parameter of interest (in this case velocity). The Batch Run option in not available with a rmb on the project so you have to go to Solve from the drop down, then Run and then Batch Run. You get a window that allows you to select which projects to run and a monitor that shows progress of each. Optionally you can run simultaneously if you have plenty of RAM. This means you can then get a cuppa and watch it do the work! Here is the monitor window ...
