Shell Symmetry

Tuesday February 12, 2013 at 3:39pm

Just found a new capability while teaching the Simulation 2013 training course. This seems to have skipped my attention and is not in any of the 'What's new' documents. The new capability is that you can use the Symmetry Fixture on shells as well as solids. Previously users were forced to cobble together a symmetry restraint by using the 'Reference Geometry' fixture. Now you can simply select the edges of shells in the Symmetry fixture - and you even get a preview of the symmetrical opposite side!

This will help users sety up symmetry on shells more quickly and without the brain ache of trying to think through which of the 6 degrees of freedom is restrained when using the 'Reference Geometry' method.
