Problem with SolidWorks Rx?

Monday June 10, 2013 at 11:22am

Is the SolidWorks Rx tool not opening?

I came across an interesting issue that seems to crop up now and again whilst working on the Support line, which is the problem with the SolidWorks Rx tool not opening, not doing anything, yet there are barely any signs of the cause or anything happening in the background.

The thing that I noticed was the 'sldrx.exe' process pops up into the task manager and immediately disappears. After looking into this thoroughly and testing it out for myself, I did find the culprit is a little .exe file – datamngrUI.exe, this process conflicts with the Rx tool because a .dll file (datamngr.dll) is executed within the sldrx.exe process and causes the conflict which makes the Rx close instantly.

Usually, you’ll find that in Control Panel> Programs and Features, it’ll be associated with either Windows iLivid Toolbar or Windows SearchQU Toolbar. Uninstalling these programs will take off the .exe and will resolve the issues with the Rx Tool.

Support line hours -  Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm
