eDrawings Pro for iPad and iPhone

Monday December 3, 2012 at 10:10am

SolidWorks eDrawings for iPad was a long time coming but was well worth the wait. Now, eDrawings Professional for iPad adds to the functionality you have available, including measure and mark up, viewing exploded views in SolidWorks files and all the configurations and display states of a model. Now, both eDrawings and eDrawing Pro are available for the iPhone as well as the iPad!

If you were at our SolidWorks 2013 Launch events, you may well remember our humorous (well, it was intended to be humorous!) look at how eDrawings on an iPad is better than a crumpled engineering drawing...

However, one area which is often overlooked is being able to view Simulation results in eDrawings. When you have a fully detailed 3D model, why not use it to communicate your Simulation results instead of the automatically-generated Word document? That way you can take your results with you on your iphone or ipad.

To do this, right click on your Simulation results plot and choose Save As. This will allow you to save an .eprt or .easm dependent on the document you have done the simulation on...

Then simply email the eDrawing file to yourself or whoever wants to view the results on the iphone or ipad. Then you can tap on the attachment and choose Open In...if you have edrawings on your device you will also get Open in eDrawings...

Here is how it looks on my iPhone both with and without the toolbars (they toggle on and off).

What do you think about that then? A bit lighter to take to a customer than your Dell Precision M6700!
