SWOOD CAM

TRAINING AGENDA

Lesson Agenda
Introduction: Overview - This lesson will give a thorough understanding on the initial SWOOD setup, ensuring standard libraries and specific document templates are loaded and accessible for all the CAM team to use.

Lesson 1: CNC Tool Creation - This lesson guides you through the creation of a virtual tool library representing the tools at your machine and looks at the specific settings that can be configured for each tool in your library. Once individual tools have been generated, time is spent covering the creation of drilling aggregates and multi spindle drill configurations.

Lesson 2: Machine Setup & Panel Orientation - Lesson 2 guides users through the process of setting up a program in a single part model. Focusing on the selection of the machine, defining the panel orientation, stock sizes of the panel and the process of adding tools to the program phase ready for addition of tool paths.

Lesson 3: Drilling - Lesson 3 introduces the process for applying drilling operations to a program. This lesson reviews the manual and automatic methods of applying drilling operations in SWOOD CAM.

Lesson 4: Milling - Lesson 4 introduces 3 axis milling operations and the process to apply manually or automatically. Operations including but not limited to contouring, pocketing, grooving, Engraving and more. Each example will explain toolpath set up and detail on how to modify required settings.

Lesson 5: 3D Milling - Lesson 5 covers the set up for simultaneous 3 axis operations.

Lesson 6: 4 Axis - Lesson 6 introduces the method to create custom coordinate systems to apply operations onto angled faces. This lesson is only applicable if you have a CNC machine with a 4th axis or special angled head.

Lesson 7: 5 Axis - Lesson 7 introduces 5 axis capabilities, specifically how to apply operation that require use of all 5 axis. This lesson is only applicable if you have a 5-axis capable CNC machine.

Lesson 8: Nesting - Lesson 8 introduces SWOOD Nesting, SWOOD Nesting is a separate module to SWOOD CAM. The lesson covers the process of taking a project and generating a nested layout for CNC use. The associated optimization options are covered and explained. This lesson is only applicable if you have SWOOD Nesting module and a suitable CNC for nesting layout.
Course Details
Length: 2 Days

Prerequisites: It is recommended that participants should have attended the SOLIDWORKS Essentials training course or the CAD Essentials for CAM users. Experience in wood routing and or CNC programming is not essential but can be beneficial.

Description:

During the 2 day course you will learn how to apply a range of different machining operations directly onto your part in preparation for manufacture. Lessons also focus on the construction of your tool and aggregate library as well as a machining library for quick access to your most commonly used machining operations. Once we have covered the wide range of programming operations we take a look at the SWOOD CAM nesting capabilities (additional module) before exploring the power of SWOOD CAM simulation and reporting.
