SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard

TRAINING AGENDA

Lesson Agenda
Lesson 1: Basics & User Interface - The first lesson of this course looks at the basic user interface and workflow of SOLIDWORKS CAM, working through a basic component from the setup to generating a machine ready program file.

Lesson 2: Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) and Operation Modification - Lesson 2 introduces the user to the automatic programming capabilities in SOLIDWORKS CAM and how much the software can do for you. We will also cover the automatic updating of toolpaths after a design change is made to the model within SOLIDWORKS.

Lesson 3: Interactive Feature Recognition (IFR) - Lesson 3 covers how to manually program operations for the more specific real world applications of a CNC programmer, covering a few more types of CAM feature in addition to lesson 2.

Lesson 4: Interactive Operations -Lesson 4 reinforces the creation and application of user created (interactive) features and will also look at how we can save applied program data in the form of strategies to streamline future programming.

Lesson 5: Merging Features & Operations -Lesson 5 looks more into the streamlining & ordering of programs, we look at creating groups of similar features, automatic ordering by operation type and tool, as well as the combining & linking of similar features.

Lesson 6: Avoid & Contain Areas - Lesson 6 covers intelligent methods of ensuring a toolpath will avoid or stay local to an area, for example avoiding a finger clamp holding a component.

Lesson 7: Pattern Features & Mirror Toolpaths - Lesson 7 covers how identical features can be programmed once and then patterned or mirrored to streamline a program.

Lesson 8: Advanced Features & Operations - Lesson 8 is a summary of all of the more advanced features available in SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard, such as basic 3D features, engraving, multi stepped holes, chamfering and applying corner rounds.

Lesson 9: Using The Technology Database - In the final lesson, we will look at using the Technology Database (Tech DB). This is the core database which controls the tools, machines, operation plans etc. We will cover how to access and use this database, create a tool and a tool crib for the trainees personal set up of the software.
